Yep, our beloved Nation's birthday is drawing closer, and we're celebrating it with a fantastic dinner prepared by the one and only Chilli Padi. A delicious 3 course menu awaits you.

And you'll even be treated with a special performance starring your very own committee of 2007/2008! And we'll have a special guest - Scene at the Movies, who's song has sky rocketed to the top of the Malaysian English Top 10 chart.

The Australian Malaysian Film Festival will be held from the 15th - 18th of August at ACMI cinemas in Federation Square.

Some of the masterpieces on show are Sepi, Congkak, Duyung, Waris Jari Hantu and Cuci. There will also be an exhibition of Malaysian hand painted batik and other local fashion.

So head on down to Federation Square to get in touch with your roots back home. There will be special student screenings with English subtitles. Infact, you could even rub shoulders with the Malaysian producers, directors and actors at a Q&A session after the showing of "Duyung". All Monday tickets are priced at a low $5!

Hey guys, how has the first week of Uni been for you? If you've been having headaches with timetables, tutorial times or your heads are spinning after trying to absorb new information, there is the BIG BBQ coming up!

When? Saturday, 9th August
Where? Princes Park, Parkville (at the northern tip of Uni)
Time? 11am - 3pm

The Big BBQ is being held by MASCA and other Malaysian societies across Melbourne, not only for the purpose of providing a chance for you to mingle, but to congratulate the NCG participants and welcome the newcomers!

It's only $1 or $2 dollars per person or MORE if you're feeling generous :) Malaysians who are new to Melbourne eat for free!
